God has caused evil

Isaiah 10:6 I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. 7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

1Kings 22:22 And the Lord said …I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. 23 Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.

2Samuel 16:10 Lord hath said unto him, Curse David.

Acts 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

2Kings 8:12 13 …The Lord hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria. And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.

Exodus 7:3 I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt. 8:15 when Pharaoh saw [them]he hardened his heart, and hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said. 32 And Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also, neither would he let the people go.

God hardens hearts- many verses; the hardened hearts are not evil as such but God’s means His means of making people do evil

Additional texts I have added to the ones above [from RSV]

Joshua 11:16-23 So Joshua … took all their kings, struck them down, and put them to death. …18…all were taken in battle. 20For it was the Lord’s doing to harden their hearts so that they would come against Israel in battle, in order that they might be utterly destroyed, and might receive no mercy, but be exterminated, just as the Lord had commanded

Isaiah 45:7 7I form light and create darkness, I make weal and create woe; I the Lord do all these things.

Judges 14:4 4His father and mother did not know that this [evil] was from the Lord; for he was seeking a pretext to act against the Philistines.

1 Samuel 2:22-25 22Eli …heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and how they lay with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 23He said to them, “Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all these people… But they would not listen to the voice of their father; for it was the will of the Lord to kill them.

2 Samuel 12:11-1811Thus says the Lord: I will raise up trouble against you from within your own house; and I will take your wives before your eyes, and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives …1213David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” …14because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child that is born to you shall die.” 15The Lord struck the child that Uriah’s wife bore to David, and it became very ill. 1618On the seventh day the child died.

Job 1:1There was once a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil. 2 There were born to him seven sons and three daughters. 3 He had seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred donkeys, and very many servants; so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the east. 8 The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and turns away from evil.”

12 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, all that he has is in your power; only do not stretch out your hand against him!” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.

One day the oxen were plowing and the donkeys were feeding beside them, 15 and the Sabeans fell on them and carried them off, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; …the Chaldeans formed three columns, made a raid on the camels and carried them off, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; 18 his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house, 19 and suddenly a great wind came across the desert, struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead;

Then Job arose, tore his robe, shaved his head, and fell on the ground and worshiped. He said, “…the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
